Offsetting Napoli 1-1, Liverpool are not certain to pass to the last 16 of the Champions League

Liverpool are forced to fight until the final matchday of Group E Champions League 2019-2020 to ensure qualification for the round of 16. Because on the fifth matchday, namely when facing Napoli, Jurgen Klopp’s team can only achieve a 1-1 draw on Thursday (11/28/2019) early morning hrs.

It can only bring home one point from the match against Napoli to make Liverpool still not safe, even though they are top of Group E standings with 10 points. So, inevitably Liverpool must win or at least draw when in their last match in Group E when they travel to the headquarters of Salzburg.

The course of the match:

First-round:

Napoli’s first goal that was created by Dries Mertens in the 21st minute actually had the smell of controversy because previously Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk, in pain after colliding with Napoli players and Mertens was also said to have entered the offside trap before running into the Reds penalty box – Liverpool’s nickname. However, all of this is immediately disputed after VAR stated that the Napoli goal was legitimate.

The match continued. This time Liverpool tried to keep pressing the Napoli defense. Every effort was tried by Jurgen Klopp’s squad. Nevertheless, the Napoli defense played well in the early hours of the morning so Mohamed Salah and his friends found it difficult to score the equalizer.

Napoli did not stay silent, Mertens and his friends again tried to build an attack from the wing sector. However, all that can still be stopped by the Liverpool defense, which makes the game focused again in the middle of the field.

Mutual buying and selling attacks occur until the first half ends. However, until the referee blew the first half over, there were no additional goals from both teams. So, for the time being, Liverpool is 0-1 behind Napoli at Anfield Stadium.

Second round:

Entering the second half, Liverpool tried to get up. Various attempts were made by Klopp’s team to be able to score goals so that the position back into a draw. One way is to continue to press the Napoli defense.

That strategy can also be said to work well because Napoli seems difficult to understand the onslaught of the Liverpool front-line trio, namely Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino. Because of the difficulty, Napoli always failed to fire a shot right at the Liverpool goal.

While Liverpool managed several times to create the right kick toward the goal. However, it was only in the 65th minute that Liverpool finally found the equalizer. It was Dejan Lovren who managed to score a goal for Liverpool after being able to get the ball right into the Napoli net.

After Lovren’s goal, Liverpool continued to pressure Napoli. The match seemed to be biased because Liverpool more attacking Napoli’s defense.

Even so, Carlo Ancelotti’s team still survived until the second half ended. As a result, the score 1-1 was the final result of the Liverpool match against Napoli.
